The wife and ex-Navy owner of La Posta restaurant in Mesilla, New Mexico, are one of the sponsors of the submarine USS New Mexico. The sub's galley (kitchen) is named after the restaurant.
In a recent article in the 9/18/15 Las Cruces Sun-News there is a short article about a flag on display in the restaurant.
Accompanying the article are two photos of two obviously different New Mexico state flags.
One photo shows crew members of the submarine holding an official version of the 1925 state flag as they stand on the Arctic icecap. The other photo shows a state flag on display at the restaurant. In the article the owner is quoted as saying, "The flag is a welcomed addition to other items displayed from the USS New Mexico, including a scaled model."

In this Sun-News photo is the purported same flag in previous photo that is on display in the La Posta restaurant. Note arrows pointing at the exaggerated spacing of the center rays of the officially modified sacred Zia Pueblo Sun symbol. This is the flag that is promoting the evangelical Christian beliefs that is showing up in illegal venues like public schools and government offices.

AH, THE 'APPROVED' DOWNTOWN LAS CRUCES CHRISTIAN PLAZA
“The
revised plan was developed from input by [Christian] residents and councillors.”
(After the secretive The Forum blessed it.)
(After the secretive The Forum blessed it.)
This location is very near the now-sacred spot under a bank where the old St. Genevieve's Church was located, before Bishop Metzgar had it torn down, sold the property to the same bank, and soon after retired to El Paso, Texas. A new church was built at another location and a few years passed. Families increasingly bemoaned their loss. Meanwhile, others have built fortunes on the millions of public money spent on this new project after years of ignoring the dead Downtown and its failed 1970's Urban Renewal. Since then, the resuscitation has taken on a Christian evangelical determination to make the area a bigoted, holy wonderment fed by the ancestral lies of the promoted local Christian history and the illegal misdirection of public funds.
The city council and project supporters ignored the purchase of the available 110-acre golf course property that would have benefited the whole of the community for generations. The zeal of the Downtown Gang to turn the area, Lazarus-like into their holy spot after years-long 'spending' of millions of dollars, has not gone unnoticed by the community. Any legal action, which would be required due to the unabashed bigotry of some in the community, to give the plaza a welcoming and inclusive spirit has been cursed by the lies of a previous sectarian court decision.

From the north-end anchor, next to the City's only public library holding books of enlightenment while branded with the local sign of bigotry, stands the newer "City of Las Cruces City Hall" (carved to represent 'cuidad de las cruces - City of Christian Crosses') flying its proud Christian proselytizing flags, to a Federal courtroom on the east-side where a bible supplants the U. S. Constitution, to the west-side along Water Street, mostly ignored, it being lined with small offices, to the south-end's future anointment, waiting to be a surprise to all since the previous large old Latin trinity crosses planters have been removed, is the Downtown holy site of Las Cruces.

“The roof of the performing stage can be seen [dark area at
bottom representing the rocks at Calvary] with the water splash pad [representing
the divine headrest with rays of light] and lawned [sic] areas [pillow-soft grass at the head of the cross] drawing people [faithful Christian pilgrims] to the plaza. In the drawing…. the
elliptical sundial at the center of the plaza [represents the slanted footrest
of the cross of Jesus] with stained cement paving demarking sections. Originally a round sundial was envisioned, an
elliptical sundial is better, because the markings can be adjusted [adjusting "cement paving....sections?"] to tell
correct time.”
The "water splash pad" is reminiscent of Mayor Miyagishima's bigoted religious plaque of divine light, rays, and crosses he awards to citizens he blesses. Those crosses would be obvious, so they make the whole plaza a cross! (Note: The plaque can be seen on a previous post.)
Note: The slanted footrest is depicted in paintings so the raised end on Jesus' right points to the good thief, Dismas, while the lower end points to the bad thief, Gestas.

NEW MEXICO PUBLIC SCHOOLS INSURANCE AUTHORITY (NMPSIA)
Why does the NMPSIA which controls millions of dollars for health care and the disbursement of those millions use a totally Catholic version of the State of New Mexico appropriated sacred Zia Pueblo symbol? Does this bigoted symbol convey a belief that all is well with the deposits? (See symbol below used as the logo of the NMPSIA.)
Their website reports "over 30,000 educational employees and their families," but does not openly reference the many other thousands of educational retirees paying into the fund.
A search of their website does not reveal where the millions of dollars are located awaiting disbursement for healthcare bills.
Who are the board members? What are their qualifications and whom are they employed by, or self-employed? One vague figure on website showed no funding for these Board members.
A further search revealed the following appointments:
- Two teachers belonging to NEA.
- One teacher belonging to AFT/NM.
- Three by governor's appointment.
- One from Superintendent's Association
- One School Business official. (? What?)
- One from Education entities at large. (? What?)
- One from School Boards Association.
- One from Public Education Commission.
To alleviate any confusion about this design used by the NMPSIA, previous posts on this blog explain and show the difference. Hint: note the larger gap between the bars providing three spaces referencing the Catholic "Holy Trinity."

BIGOTRY AT ITS BEST, A FAILED LEGACY
When the current culturally deficient mayor of Las Cruces, insurance agent Mr. Miyagishima, replaced the jocular travel agent bigot (see previous story of Holocaust ceremony), he immediately began his promotion of Christianity from his public mayoral office.
There had been some hope of respite among The Other religious and non-believer minorities from the decades of unashamed religious bigotry of the city of Las Cruces. That hope faded when Miyagishima introduced his decidedly Catholic mayoral plaque. Ancestral experiences of racial and religious bigotry are sometimes lost on descendants, but their own, proudly carried on.
The divinely representative center cross with the rays of white light is the same cross that the sitting judge, federal magistrate Lourdes Martinez said she couldn't see.
The other laughable followup project passed by the City Council, and approved by the state Legislature, is the vehicular license plate promoting the city-wide Christian bigotry. The additional profits from the special sales of the plate was scheduled to provide monies for proselytizing the city's youth at the Meerscheidt Recreational Center. A daily, on going, enterprise.
The interest in joining the city's promotion of religious bigotry was misjudged. After several years of sales the total is less than a thousand. The license plates are nice in that they help identify the proud bigots of their exclusive "City of the Crosses."
The other laughable promotion is the engraved evangelical nickname for the city, "City of Las Cruces," on the front of the new city hall building. "Las Cruces" is just not enough, when the purpose is to relate the name to the Spanish for 'the crosses.' (see previous posts about the Las Cruces name from fakelore of Latin crosses over fictitious massacre graves.)

Now we have:
Las Cruces Sun-News. Las Cruces courtesy photo.
Any passerby will know what this sign means. The message is loud and clear: 'Christians are welcome. This is a Christian city. Non-believers don't tarry.'
The failure of the local government's in-your-face plethora of Christian symbols, caused by the meaningless monotony of the City's gothic, pagan influenced symbol of the sun, and the trinitarian crosses that evolved from the fictitious graves' crosses, has generated a new direction to make proud the evangelical purpose of the City government to promote Christianity.
Announced 09-15-2014 in the local Las Cruces Sun-News, the City Council is considering the placement of large, 20' X 40', in-your-face billboards on I-10 (East and West), I-25 (North and South), and U. S. Highway 70 (from and to Alamogordo, NM), not only to proselytize the passing travelers, the other 150,000 Mesilla Valley residents, and residents of New Mexico, but to justify the promotion of Christianity . The article revealed the head cheerleaders as Miyagishima, of course, and Mr. Udell Vigil, of the Public Information Office, the base for promoting government fundamentalism.
"It's a branding effort," said Udell Vigil. ".....city officials want to let visitors and motorists passing through know they are welcome." Right! If you are not here to be sanctified, you are welcomed to stay long enough to spend some money and kiss the Roadrunner's arse on the way out of the city.

OLD GLORY NEVER RAISED HER HEAD
During the evening of 29 August 2014, there was excitement in the local public school district's football stadium nicknamed the "Field of Dreams." Now a permanent designation, even lettered on the new Million Dollar Artificial Turf. The turf was paid for in part, perhaps in toto, by stripping funds from the various schools' arts and music programs.
From its provincial beginning, the field was curiously nicknamed after the baseball movie of that same name. Though illegal in most venues, the school district allows the belligerent display of large, permanent Christian crosses of the Trinity on the street sidewall. Supposedly, in deference to the city's name source of crosses over fictitious graves from fictitious Apache massacres.
The across-town rivalry joined two public high schools. One school dubiously named "Onate High School" by the Church for the blessed Mexico-born conquistador who only passed through the area. Fans and students of the newer other, Centennial High School, were wearing shirts and other equipment with the intentionally modified Trinitarian Zia symbol part of the school logo.
Adding to the religiously charged event was the fluttering extra-large, evangelical-modified, Christianized state flag hanging under what appeared to be a smaller Old Glory. (See modified flag at 10/10/13 post.)
Throughout the event, played out in the warm desert breeze, the fluttering modified state flag displayed its true face, while that symbol that represents us all, Old Glory, perhaps in shame, never raised her head. But, the Valley's 'golden calf' flag of religious bigotry pole-danced the night away.

A LITTLE SOMETHING FOR TOURISTS
Near the terminus of Interstate 10 at the southwest border with Arizona is a city, Lordsburg, that Robert Julyan in his The Place Names of New Mexico discarded the other suppositions to the name and decided "most likely" it was named after the railroad engineer, Delbert Lord, who was the chief engineer during construction. Julyan makes no religious reference to the adopted name or to those possibilities of the name. Those other name references listed people. Not deities.
It now appears that the name has been taken to heart by some government officials and allowed the Christian defied-modification of the State's Zia symbol to illegally and insultingly adorn the north and south entrance doors of the only state/federal government-owned New Mexico Tourist Center/Rest Stop in Lordsburg.
These doors are a prime example of how Christians' hegemony ("Our crosses are more important to us than your feelings.') combines with public property to promote their Christian beliefs of superiority. Like the reds of the rubies and garnets worn on the brocades of the Church, these blood-colored Christian crosses represent the blood of Jesus and shockingly proselytize the unsuspecting travelers going east and west.

CHRISTIAN DOMINIONISTS' FLAG -WAVING BIGOTRY IN NEW MEXICO
Standard
New Mexico state flag. Approved by state
legislature in 1925. The center space of each branch was elongated to better emphasize the use of the three spaces to represent
the trinity of Christianity. Although
this is a Christian modification of the stolen Zia Pueblo sacred religious
symbol, it is unknowingly accepted by most as representing the state of New
Mexico. In fact it represents the domination of the Church over the First People and the state of New Mexico.
This
is the bigoted Christian Dominionists’ newer modification of the New Mexico state
flag to proselytize and claim the entire state and government as their own. The State has its flag, and now these bigoted Christian Dominionists have their flag. (Color changed by printer.)

REPLACEMENT OF GOOD HOUSEKEEPING SEAL
Replacement
of the Good Housekeeping Seal
The first
edition of the Good Housekeeping
magazine was published in 1885. The
owner, Clark W. Bryan, said the purpose of his magazine was “a family journal
conducted in the higher life of the household.”
He further stated that the magazine had a “mission to fulfill compounded
of about equal portions of public duty and private enterprise.” This was the honor code of Mr. Bryan and his
magazine.
The year my father was born, 1909,
a new idea in the honor code of merchandising was born by Good Housekeeping. The national
magazine stated that they would guarantee every product advertised in their
magazine for two years – refund or replacement.
This was the new honor code of this privately owned magazine: “An Inflexible Contract Between the Publisher
and Each Subscriber.” A totally
non-biased approach of equality when dealing with the people.
Good Housekeeping has kept their
promise for over a hundred years, even to today. What a wonderful concept for our various
governments in all the states to operate under, including the federal
government: The Quality
of the ‘Goods’ is: An Inflexible Contract Between the Government and Every
Citizen. Have we not read something
similar to this before? Perhaps the U.
S. Constitution and the New Mexico Constitution.
Would this not be close to the
perfect rule for elected, or appointed officials, and business and political
party hirelings like lobbyists, to follow?
Deviations from the rules by those serving the public or those gaining
from public funds would result in dismissal, or jail. Both should be considered.
There is no way to measure the
numbers of Americans and visitors who have seen the Good Housekeeping seal over
the more than one hundred years. No
guess would justify the numbers of Americans who have purchased products
because of the assurances of the Good Housekeeping seal. What a wonderful relationship with the people.
But here in New Mexico, The Land of
Sententious Ochlocracy, moralizing by mob rule, the inclusive generations-assuring
Good Housekeeping seal has been
replaced. Not by an honor code of any
business operating in the confines of the state’s borders, but by the well-fed
beliefs of superiority and righteousness of the Christian evangelicals who have
wormed their way into government offices and dominate the leadership of the
state legislature, political parties, and court rooms by one particular
religious group.
One of the last territories in the
contiguous United States to become a state in 1912, New Mexico did not have a
state flag until 1925. Obviously a hegemonic
bricolage, Christian-privilege magic, a suddenly held, very short design contest
and instantly governor-approved, produced a new version of the stolen Zia
Pueblo sacred religious sun symbol. This
new symbol representing the Trinity of Catholicism was sanctified by the state
government a few days before Good Friday for the 1925 Easter unveiling in Santa
Fe.
The colors pay homage to the
Catholic queen of Spain and her husband-king who blessed the death-dealing Catholic
Inquisition and bloody invasions of the Americas. The adoption of the appropriated, and
evangelical-transformed, sacred Zia Pueblo religious symbol, is a constant
reminder of the subjugation of New Mexico by the sword and supposed superiority
of the Catholic beliefs over those of The People.
A bright, yet noticeable contrast
to the mundane, this Catholic version of the Zia Pueblo sacred religious sun
symbol has flown over New Mexico for eighty-eight years. As a distraction for its real intent,
apologists abound claim it represents the abundant sunshine the state is touted
for.
Not satisfied with this accepted symbol
for the Trinity’s influence over the state, the new evangelical dominionists, in an insidious campaign to reclaim
the New Mexico they dreamily claim has been lost to those masses of humanity
who reject the primitive church’s teachings, comes a new sign of total domination. Their efforts are paying off with their new,
little known flag creeping unnoticed into every facet of the lives of the
people in New Mexico. The arrogance and
superiority displayed by these new
evangelists is something that can only be held in disdain.
Thus, this well-planned and
clandestine operation headquartered in Santa Fe is spreading its smothering
shadow across the state as if it were a sweet thing like potato candy creeping
around a plate when too much powdered sugar is added. Choking the life out of our Freedom From
Religion.
This is the most common example
ignored by casual observers unaware of the Church-sponsored creep into our society. Note spacing by arrows.
To continue the attributes to the
Christian divine by hegemonic government agencies one does not have to look
very far:
This
is the State of New Mexico Human Services Department logo.
Note the Zia symbol-like modification to glorify the Catholic Trinity.
Note the Zia symbol-like modification to glorify the Catholic Trinity.
Next is a clever blessing-design for
a program of this same Human Services Department. Note the four representative human figures in
the circle holding hands. Also note the
heads of each figure are centered on the divine-representative portion of the Trinitarian Zia
symbol-like logo. Illegal? Yes, because the State is receiving federal
funds to run the program. The State
knows this. Think - religion from government.
This State of New Mexico Human
Services Department is operating the Medicaid program called the Centennial
Care program after the State’s 2012 centennial celebration, when it was
reintroduced. By all accounts the symbol
is nothing but a government’s reminder of the Catholic Trinity. The modified,
evangelical Zia-like symbol is to indicate the program has been blessed by a
Catholic deity, or is a blessing and people are reminded to offer up their
prayers, either way. This is a
federal-funded Medicaid program.
“A new name” for an evangelical-blessed Federal government program now sporting an illegal Christian logo.

RESPONSE TO SUN-NEWS "NEW FLAGS TO HONOR MILITARY" STORY
Response to “New Flags to Honor Military.” Sun-News 9-24-13, pages 1 & 8.
There is no mention as to who
approved this project while other more important City projects go needy. This project appears to be nothing but a
distraction from more pressing secular expenditures that would benefit all
residents. The city already has a
Veterans’ Park on Roadrunner Parkway to honor Christian veterans.
City Manager
Robert Garza is quoted as saying, (The flags are) “a symbol of the city’s
continuous support of our service men and women as well as all veterans who
have served.” That’s a nice sentiment,
but so politically self-serving.
Garza has
missed the point. As long as these
representative flags are flown under the neo-pagan sun symbol and Trinitarian
crosses mounted on the front of City Hall they do not honor “all” of America’s
service personnel - past and present – just Christians. Are active-duty non-Christian service
personnel and veterans ‘honored’ by having a Christian Church-flag waved in
their faces in front of the seat of government – City Hall?
To add the
‘insult to the injury,’ the plan to fly those service flags side-by-side with
the City’s exclusionary hegemonic, Crusades-like white Christian, neo-pagan
flag, signifies that only Christians served and died in the service of the
United States. Then the city’s pride in
self-proclaimed religious bigotry and ignorance will be so honored. The insult and dismissal of non-Christian
service personnel, citizens and visitors will be perfectly clear.
Are the
neo-pagan icons on the building not enough to continue to claim and reclaim Las
Cruces as a “Christian city” and promote the fakelore ‘history’ of Las
Cruces? This project is a lot of money
and time spent to get the neo-pagan flag out front of City Hall on the public’s
property and declare it a Christian site.
That’s the intent, right?

NEW FLAG FOR THE LAND OF EVANGELISM
NEW FLAG FOR THE LAND OF EVANGELISM
While many New Mexicans are glued to their television sets for entertainment and world news, many others are more concerned with the lack of education, lack of health care, and feeding their children and themselves. These distractions are allowing a fanatical undercover operation not unlike the 'black ops' of the military to infiltrate our public schools and the 'public square' with their insidious evangelical, hegemonic actions to declare their superiority and to proselytize the public, especially the children. They know plastering Latin crosses on public property and in the public schools is against the law, but with ill-regard to the constitutional rights of the public they are pressed to conjure up ways to 'claim' New Mexico as their own. Not satisfied with the indifference of most New Mexicans toward the current Christianized state flag approved in 1925, their latest effort is their new adaptation of the New Mexico state flag to support their righteous claims. All the while, illegally using public monies. (Author's printer is responsible for color variations. The first flag is the proper color.).
Here is the new unauthorized evangelistic version:

Evangelical Zia symbol on public high school logo:
Note the clever off-center hawk's feathers cover the fourth ray at top of symbol to emphasize the evangelical Christian trinitarian homage to events at Calvary. Also note the center ray is taller and the slightly shorter left ray represents the 'good' thief and the obvious shorter ray on the right view represents the 'bad' thief. The same format as the Christian crosses on the Las Cruces Public School's "field of dreams" football stadium. Also the two top rays are intentionally wider to emphasize the Christian deity homage. All Hawk signage, jerseys, shirts, center basketball court, and documents have this evangelical logo. The large, painted, incised three-arm Zia symbol in the school's concrete courtyard has not been modified except for the missing fourth arm (Author's photo).

PROSELYTIZING LAS CRUCES CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
Since the social and political climate in America has changed dramatically over the past few decades, the traditionally staid United States Chamber of Commerce had boldly shown its move from representing the business health of communities, to that of an evangelical, hell-fire religious force to be reckoned with. In the past, the common belief was that the Chamber had a connection to civic responsibility. Since the Chamber is a private organization, it voices no claims to any responsibility outside its closed doors.
The traditional Chamber membership sticker in business windows was believed to portray the image that the business was approved by the Chamber for its honesty and good service to the community. That is no longer the case. While many members are still legitimate, the image now is suspect. Shopping at those businesses may provide money beyond the dues to the new development in the proselytizing business of the Chamber. Some leaders and members are steadfast in their belief that our United States is a Christians-only country, which means get out if you ain't.
Here in Las Cruces, New Mexico, a Third World entity with ties closer to Juarez, Mexico, and El Paso, Texas, than with the economic and post-Spanish cultural centers of Albuquerque and Santa Fe, the Chamber has developed its own 'army' of Christian evangelical emissaries. These members of the Chamber labor under the local Chamber's trinitarian logo which suddenly evolved after lawsuits challenged the City and school district's use of similar symbols that enjoy world-wide acceptance as totally Christian.
Part of the local fake lore in Las Cruces is that Latin crosses displayed by the City are not religious. Is the City the organ-grinder and the Chamber dances, or is the Chamber the organ-grinder?
Marching hand-in-hand with Governor Martinez, the Chamber has taken a not-unexpected bold step to show its true intent of extending its realm of evangelical proselytizing the residents of Las Cruces, and their children, the real aim. The Chamber has joined with Osteen Publishing Company (OPC, LLC, new owners of weekly Las Cruces Bulletin.) to promote a Christians-Only "Junior Leadership Program."

Shown here for informational purposes only, this is the logo for the "Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce's Jr. Leadership program, modeled on our highly successful [adult] Leadership Las Cruces." "a unique program .....for Las Cruces area high school junior."
One can see that this logo has a double meaning. One meaning represents the Christians-only evangelical intent of the training sponsored by the Las Cruces Chamber; the other meaning of the crosses is a warning to non-Christians to stay away. The above referenced "Leadership Las Cruces" has only used the Chamber logo to deliver the message of the intent, at least in the public advertisements.

Any connection between the well-known televangelist Joel Osteen and the family-owned Osteen Publishing Company, in Sumter, South Carolina, is unknown.
A CROSS IS A CROSS IS A CROSS
Goaded by local and national Christian evangelical dominionist court rulings, and the surge by the evangelicals to claim the 'public square' a sacred place of their own, all the while dismissing The Others, this evangelical effort is steadfastly eroding the civil liberties of public school students in New Mexico public schools, especially in Las Cruces.
Teachers passing religious-intent words for 'testifying' is one thing, but deeds and pictures are another. Here you see the latest effort in the Onate High School, Las Cruces, New Mexico. Juan Onate was the conquistador who, although he never had anything to do with Las Cruces, led the first permanent group of Catholic priests and colonists from Mexico to the Santa Fe, New Mexico, area. For that, the reverence bestowed upon him by the New Mexico Catholic Church and its followers is nothing short of sainthood. Even by the standards of the 16th Century (late 1500's), Onate was a butcher.
One has to believe this building modification with its proselytizing intent was coordinated with the Las Cruces Board of Education, the Superintendent, and of course, the Principal. This painting, with its permanent symbolic intent of proselytizing and claiming the school as Christian, is a clear violation of Las Cruces School District Policy 424. The pictured artist is an employee at the school.

A Useful Proselytizing Venue
For years the City of Las Cruces has been using various venues to proselytize the children regardless of their religious affiliation. Many non-Christian and non-religious parents of children ignore, or make excuses of knowing what the intent of the city is, so that their children can participate in activities sponsored by the city.
With the blessings of the evangelicals, the main facility run by the Las Cruces Parks and Recreation Department is the well-decorated with Christian crosses Meerscheidt Recreation Center. One proselytizing activity is the handing out of t-shirts decorated with the Christian crosses to unwary participating children.
Another method of evangelism is the 'outsourcing' of the proselytizing to various Christian groups so the City can deny any involvement (We didn't do anything., or We didn't know., or We don't understand your problem.) and the providing of public funds to Christian organizations.
The recent June 24, 2013 article in the local Sun-News is the story titled: Youth Running Club open to Las Cruces kids. "The private Las Cruces Running Club is sponsoring a youth summer running club. [Hey! Isn't it hell-hot in Las Cruces?] Funded by a grant from the City of Las Cruces Parks and Recreation Department."
Why should your children have to endure Christian evangelism in order to participate in city-sponsored activities? This club's logo testifies that they are running for Jesus.

The Ooze of Goodness
One would think that the Mayor of Las Cruces would be able to recognize, at least be familiar with, the historically ingrained bigotry in and about Las Cruces, plus that supporting baggage dragged in by all the favored newcomers. From his comments recently reported in the weekly folksy/newsy My Las Cruces for Black History Month, Mayor Miyagishima appears to only recognize color as the only category subject to local, state, and national bigotry.
When Mayor Miyagishima stated, "....Las Cruces is probably one of the most tolerant cities in New Mexico.", he apparently forgot his personal mayoral plaques he hands out. The ones with the white rays of light emanating from the center cross of the three undeniably Christian Trinitarian crosses. Also forgotten in that statement is the recent well-known history of Las Cruces, when the local faith-biased mob leaders guided the federal court, to deprive the plaintiffs especially, and many other citizens, of their civil liberties. That cloud still hangs over the city, not to be removed by additional Latin crosses.
His silence can still be heard when the Latin crosses were put on the three sides of the purposefully-built tower of the new City Hall. Mayor Miyagishima was there when the building was strangely inscribed "City of Las Cruces City Hall," which intones the English translation of the Spanish "Ciudad de Las Cruces (City of the Crosses)," and that keeps at least half of the bigots happy.
It's obvious Mayor Miyagishima just doesn't get it.

ROTC Proselytizing at New Mexico State University
Can you and your children expect anything less, after the bought evangelical blessing of the local federal court in Las Cruces, that Christian symbols are perfectly OK on government and other public properties? You may think Latin crosses in any configuration (especially three) are Christian-religious. Not in Las Cruces, New Mexico, where the cry from citizens echoed across the chile and cotton fields, "They're not religious, they only represent our culture and our community." Duh. Translated in Las Cruces-speak means, "If you are not an abiding Christian, Catholic or Protestant, we will only tolerate your presence." As long as you keep your head down.
New Mexico State University has several departments that have been engaged in proselytizing the students and general public for years. Several professors are known to lie about their involvement with the evangelicals employed by the university and the promotion of Christianity. And all the while the unsuspecting students from a variety of cultures and religions, even no religions, are being subjected to Christian proselytizing. The current triangular logo of the university reeks of sectarian Christian fundamentalism and the university leaders bask in that knowledge, that lends tacit approval of promoting the Christian religion.
Recently I attended the US Army SROTC (Senior ROTC) commissioning/graduating ceremony on campus. Since I served in two branches, Navy and Army, enlisted and officer, I totally expected an uplifting "Duty, Honor, and Country" ceremony for the newly commissioned officers.
I had read that there was a rabid influx of Christian evangelists doing all they can to turn our military forces into obedient, slavish soldiers of Christ. This is exactly what this ceremony reflected. The guest speaker was a retired Army officer active with the ROTC. His speech was nothing but a Catholic sermon using the fictional character in the fictional book, The Vicar of Christ, an American Marine who became the Catholic Pope. The book title was referenced several times in the Elmer Gantry-like energetic presentation seen in revival tents, and of course, on evangelical TV shows. Excerpts from the book had been copied for the new officers with an admonishment to read and reflect on the ideas on the pages; blatantly assuming in the fashion of evangelists that all were good Christians, and if not, they should be.
Next up was the Commanding Officer of the SROTC unit at the university. His equally evangelical proselytizing sermon was not so animated, but he did not fail to get his fundamentalist Christian message out to the new officers. Surely they had heard this many times from their commander and fearfully feigned obedience. The unsuspecting audience of parents and friends sat stoically as he repeated "So help me God," from the oath of allegiance, over and over. Even though I was present, I failed to grasp the sermon's point, it being illegal anyway.
The 'chaplain' nervously gave the opening and closing prayer. Even though it was Christian, it was almost benign as compared to the two sermons the new officers and attendees were forced to bear.

Our New Centennial High School
It's almost time for our new Centennial High School to open. A long-awaited inclusive project that would make any city and school district proud. But....with the grand opening this Fall, a seemingly overlooked problem needs to be corrected. Now is the time for the city, county, and school district to divest itself from the current street name of 'Sonoma Ranch Boulevard' (SRB) to something more appropriate for the setting. Even 'Centennial Boulevard' would be pleasing and not give the impression that it is connected to the Sonoma Ranch Empire.
The new school is about two miles from the large, ever-growing, jammed-up housing development. The Dona Ana County Commissioners were probably strong-armed to allow the road from Highway 70 to Las Alturas to be named 'SRB.' At the time, it probably appeared to be OK, it just being a line on a map in the sand dunes.. But the land from the school to the City Dump, near east Lohman, has most likely been spoken for by the 'Empire.' (A map in the Sun-News showing the disposition of the land would be good.) Any new housing or commercial development along the currently unpaved portion of the SRB, and attaching the name of Centennial High School to it, will add millions to the Sonoma Ranch Empire.

In-Your-Face Religious Prejudice by City of Las Cruces
If you haven't already, run out to your mailbox. The federal post office has been duped into delivering the City of Las Cruces' IN YOUR FACE CHRISTIAN PROSELYTIZING by way of the 2012 City's Reference Guide. The bright, glaring Trinity crosses should make federal Judge Robert Brack doubly proud of his insulting, illegal, prejudicial Christian-based decision, accented by the City of Las Cruces Mission Statement.
Neither the Christian front page symbols nor the statement convey any respect for the various cultures, the variety of religions and non-believers in deities, that make-up this city and its surrounding environs.
That industrialize Mission Statement dismisses the heartfelt desires and personal needs of the citizens. Cost-effective services! What a joke.

Spanglish at its Best

Most free-thinking people know as they drive around the downtown area of Las Cruces that the Latin crosses on the tower of City Hall are there specifically to proselytize the people. A Christian beacon, if you will.
Many observers laugh at the seemingly redundant wording on the front of City Hall: City of Las Cruces City Hall. Pretty funny. Any moron knows Las Cruces is a city. But what's not realized is the influence of Spanglish - that illiterate sounding of local Spanish interspersed with English.
But here Spanglish was intentionally used to mask the intent of the message: City of Las Cruces translated in the local proselytizing Spanglish it means the 'City of the Crosses,' all the while knowing 'las cruces' means the crossroads. This comes from the attempt of the city to distance itself from its collaboration in the misdeeds of the local federal judges' illegal rulings about using public funding for religious purposes. All those known to be involved have been rewarded.

Truth and Justice in a Federal Court
On 11 January 2012 a great senior federal Judge Ronald R. Lagueux of the First Federal District of the United States ruled that "no amount" of "history and tradition" "can cure a constitutional infraction." Judge Lagueux did his duty to the people and our Constitution. This judge did not join the religious bigots that harassed the plaintiffs. He did not join the religious bigots and make a ruling to satisfy their outrageous demands.
Judge Lagueux did not use his Catholic religion to justify a wrongheaded ruling that would have only brought shame to his court. Every court, from low to high, belongs to all the people equally, and there by should be shameless. Any judge who brings shame upon his or her court, should immediately resign.
Every citizen should read Judge Lagueux's Decision and Order. It is written in simple language and can be found, among other places, on the New York Times web site article dated 31 January 2012 under the story line of: "A Brave Stand in Rhode Island." Also, Case 1:11-cv-00138-L-DLM Document 27, Filed 1/11/12.
The cases and reasoning behind his final decision are the same that was presented to the local federal Judges Robert Brack and Lourdes Martinez, which they chose to ignore and rule for the local religious bigots.
Or contact me and I will email you a copy. It is 40-pages long - double spaced.
